| This is so that I can use my dragons, all of them. "All" being two, and one halfer.
Story:
The time has come for the Prophecy to be fulfilled. The Rage is at hand, and this time it is different. This Rage will never end, and unlike Sammaster's Rage, this one is tied to the stars, and not with sorcery. Long ago, dragons dreamed the birth of a new breed, a breed that could save or destroy them all, the Garnet. Never before has such a dragon existed, and its coming heralds a time of troubles, for even before the elves of old cast their curse, the dragons knew of a time when they would descend into madness, and only a few chosen would be able to resist and keep their minds. That time is now.
A small band of warriors comprised of many races is led by three of the same: dragonkin. To trust another dragon is hard, for who knows which ones are prey to the madness, liable to snap at any time? They must find a "cure" for this Rage, and it lies with the new dragons. Finding them however, that is the issue and where the danger and purpose of the quest lies. For the dragons, it is to save their race. For the mortal races that travel with them, it is to save their homes, their people, their loved ones. For some, it may even be for vengeance, or wanderlust, or simple kind-heartedness. Whatever the reason, the time is now. The Rage is upon us.
Character Bios
Name: Gender: Race: (What species are they? Human, Dwarf, Elf, etc) [sidenote: for elves and dwarves, specify the type. Stone Dwarf, Arctic Dwarf, Deurgar; Moon elf, Sun Elf, Star Elf(extremely rare), Avariel(winged elf)] Occupation: (What kind of job do they have? Thief, Warrior, Healer, Farmer, etc) Appearance: (What does your character look like? This includes hair, eyes, clothing, body type, height, etc. Pictures are accepted.) Personality: (What is your character like? Friendly, rude, helpful, ignorant, easily frightened, etc) Equipment: (What items/weapons does your character have with them?) Abilities: (What can your character do? Control an element, summon a monster, speak to animals, etc) History: (Just a small paragraph about what happened in your character's past. Doesn't have to be anything too long.)
Also, any questions about race and race divisions, don't be afraid to ask me. No one is going to look down on you for not knowing what constitutes the various sub-races. ^_^ And for the purpose of this quest, at least at the beginning, the only dragons in the party are mine. If, in the course of the story, you want to bring one in yourself, let me know and we'll discuss how to manage the entrance. I would love to have more dragon! Just keep in mind that some characters may have a prejudice against dragons and dragonkin.
My Characters:
Name: Carnifex Gender: Male Race: Dragon. Gem Dragon, Onyx breed. Occupation: Sorcerer, wandering warrior, gladiator, hunter Appearance: In human form, he is a giant of a man, standing 6' 7" and weighing about 350 pounds. His left arm is entirely made of Mithrite, and the metal is grafted to replace some of the ribs he lost as well. His right arm from the elbow down is also Mithrite, and both legs from the hip down are as well. There is also plating over his spine, a precaution he asked one artificer to take for him. All of the metal is enchanted to be light enough that his movement is never hindered, and so he weighs about what he always has. His hair is a shining black, slightly iridescent with blues, and his eyes are a piercing gold.
As a dragon, he is only about mid-sized, but the formidable claws on each Mithrite limb make up for a lot of that so-called handicap. Being an onyx, his scales are an iridescent black exactly like his hair, and that combined with the sivery sheen of the Mithrite make him an intimidating sight.
The limbs themselves are always clawed, no matter which form he wears, having been made that way. The hands also bear knuckle spikes, making his punches just as formidable and dangerous as his claw swipes.
Personality: Heroic, if a little too enthusiatic. He is a lover of the mortal races, no matter how long or short lived they are, and he will do anything to protect them. Equipment: needs no equipment other than the limbs he has, though he has been known to use a dragonhorn bow. Abilities: Sorcery and magiccraft, both as a human and as a dragon, incredible strength in his limbs, as a dragon has flight and a breath weapon consisting of a cloud of fear and despair. History: For his full history, see the bio for him in General. To add on, he fought with the dragon Karasandrieth during Sammaster's Rage, aiding her group of hunters and rogues to find a way to end his sorcerous treachery. While among them, he helped the half-golem man Dorn Graybrook come to terms with his own prostheses, and smiled to see Dorn and Kara further their romance. When the Rage was over he vanished, though he still occasionally keeps in contact with Kara.
Name: Arimatrea Gender: Female Race: Dragon. Chromatic Dragon, White breed. Occupation: healer Appearance: In human form, she is about 5' 9" and weighs about 146 pounds. Her hair is the purest white, and her skin is translucent and pale. Her eyes are a silvery gray so light they almost get lost in the whites around them.
In dragon form, she is slender and graceful, with a long body, neck, and tail. Her scales are pearly white, though she bears a few scars.
Personality: gentle and distant. Equipment: She carries a satchel of healing potions and components for healing spells, as well as the sun pendant of Lathander, the Morninglord. Abilities: Healing spells are what she is good at, though in dragon form she can fly and her breath weapon is a cone of pure cold. History: She has always lived in the frozen north reaches of Faerun, and only recently has she moved south, following the dreams she has had. She has seen very few other dragons, let alone mortal races, and as such many things she does not understand, and she is inquisitive and always eager to learn more. Her emotional handicaps around other people make it difficult for her however, so she does not ask as many questions as she might like.
Name: Jakurutu Gender: Male Race: Dragonkin. Half Drow, Half Chromatic Dragon. Black breed. Occupation: Assassin, hunter. Appearance: Standing at 6' 4" and weighing in at 265 pounds, he is intimidating for several reasons. He is totally ebon black, even his ankle-length hair and his eyes, and his body is laced with scars and scales. His wings fold around him like a cloak, and if he smiles, the perfectly white teeth are razor sharp and rather long. His claws are also semi-retractable, though like most dragon's claws, they cut through anything short of heavy plate armor.
Personality: Scornful, distant because of his upbringing and his transformation to shade. He has an instinctive hatred for most women. Equipment: a black dirk he keeps in the high kild of hair, a black hooded cloak, leather pants tailored to him to accomodate his tail, and various poisons in belt pouches. Abilities: steps through shadows, can cast a sorcerous darkness thanks to his drow blood, has an acidic breath weapon thanks to his dragon blood, flight History: Born into drow society where women rule supreme, he was trained as an assassin and treated harshly for failure, either failure to complete an assignment to satisfaction, or failure to show the women of society the proper respect. At a relatively young age, was smuggled out of the city by his father, the black dracolich Urshula, only recently become such an abomination at that time. He has served many gods, and watched most of them die. Because of his roots in drow society, he hates and resents most women. |

| Name: Zodiarne Gender: Male Race: Human Lich Occupation: Asura (mage who is both potent with arcane magic, and physical swordsmanship, typically specializing in scythes) Appearance: For simplicity, and cause I enjoy this particular character's look, I shall adopt it for now lol. (here's a pic) | Spoiler: | | | )
|
Personality: (When normal) Curious; Zodiarne will go out of his way to learn about something, as the madness of having lived as long as he has eats at him, and learning about the order of the world is the only thing that keeps the insanity at bay. (When affected by madness) Insane; Zodiarne is highly unpredictable, but still retains enough of himself to distinguish enemy from ally, and what tasks hold true to his mission, when he is affected by the madness, he allows it, and has more than enough control to restrain it once more.
Equipment: Scythe of Wretched Shadows- A scythe able to channel the magical powers of shadows, cursed to eat the souls of the wretched, and forces the shadows of the souls it devours to power its magic. The pitch black scythe that Zodiarne wields in his left hand.
Scythe of Blessed Glory- A scythe that channels the voices of the souls of the virtuous, channeling their power in the magic of light. The pure white scythe that Zodiarne wields with his right hand.
Wrap of Subtle Continuality- A magic bandage that has no end, able to shrink and stretch to any form or length, it can be used as a weapon, or as apparel. Zodiarne is completely wrapped in this magical garment, with the two extending edges coming down his back from his shoulders.
Cursed Tome of Black Madness- A magic tome containing in itself the words of madness incarnate, cursed to test any who open it, and bound to any conquerers to serve as a source of power, when the individual chooses to allow the madness to enter them.
Abilities:
Lich Magic- Natural Ability of a Lich to control and manipulate undead creatures, and to affect the lifeforce of living beings in a negative way when focused upon them.
Madness- Allow or restrain the madness that affects a person, strongest on yourself, and has a very weak effect on others.
High-Grade Magic Control- The ability to use Magic, whether from Arcane Tomes, or from draconic knowledge. Able to tap into and control the elements of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light, Darkness, Lightning, Ice, and Blood.
Shadow Stalk- The ability to slip into a realm of shadows, and literally move through them at will. Can enter through his own shadow, and can exit from any shadow nearby (within 50 yards).
History: Zodiarne, walker of the edge of madness, travels across time and space, learning everything about the worlds. Originally from the Realm of Wesrik, through a small mishap involving a cursed Tome, he was transformed into a Lich, and corrupted by both undeath, and madness. The curse forced him to sleep, until either he conquered the madness of undeath, or was swallowed whole by it. After a thousand years, Zodiarne awoke, his body horribly misfigured, both by time, and the curse, yet he had won, and the tome spewed forth two scythes, a note, and a small bandage. He picked up the scythes, feeling as if they belonged in his hands, and the bandage, which instantly snapped and wrapped him up, covering his horrid frame. Then he took the note, which held in itself a spell, a spell to walk between worlds. So, taking the tome he chanted the spell, and began his long journey to a place he felt drawn to, to the Epicenter of the Coming Rage. |

| Zodiarne accepted. XP WITH A WARNING.
Carnifex does not like liches, since a lich caused the last Rage. He will not trust Zodiarne for quite some time, and might never fully trust him. Also, Jakurutu will not trust him in the beginning, since his father was a dracolich. Should he do anything to give them reason to believe that his death would benefit them more than his continued existence, they will try to kill him.
Aside from that, welcome to the rp! ^_^ |

| Finally finished. ^^
Name: Narelimonai Ithildin Gender: Female Race: Moon Elf Occupation: Scholar Current Location: Evermeet Alignment: Neutral Appearance: Extremely pale with almost translucent skin. Eyes the purest, most beautiful blue. Hair the most vibrant red, almost the shade of fresh blood, reaching past her buttocks that is braided and usually bound in cloth, with some of her hair done in an updo.
| Spoiler: | | | |
Personality: Nareli has always been one to suck up any and all knowledge she can find. She is a scholar among her kind, and considered a prodigy. She has never been known to lose her temper unless she cannot obtain the information she seeks. Her general demeanor is always calm, relaxed, and willing to assist others. She teaches the other elf-kind of Evermeet what she can because she enjoys doing so. She is very proud of where she has gotten and always strives to go even further forward, now seeking to find a cure for this new ‘rage’ amongst dragon-kind. Equipment: Bag of Holding (magical tomes and such inside), Phoenix familiar, Staff for summoning, 3 Wands for magic, Ceremonial Dagger for summoning/combat Abilities: Summoning Spirits to aid her in combat, Advanced Magic of the Earth, Water, and Wind nature generally History: Nareli’s history is not much of a fantastic tale. She was born and raised within Evermeet, and has never left the safety of it before. She devoted herself to her studies from an early age, finding that she loved books and reading and acquiring knowledge. And then later on learning that she could share the knowledge with others. She became very driven to be a scholar, taking a path that the elf-kind were not so used to a female aspiring for. Nareli eventually took it upon herself to go on a quest, journeying within Evermeet’s boundaries and being lucky enough to obtain a familiar. Said familiar is her phoenix, Altier, a beautiful bird of vibrant reds with eyes the darkest black. Upon returning to her home, she was welcomed with more recognition than she ever could have imagined, and officially became a scholar of the elf-kind. When this new “rage of dragons” came about, the elders decided perhaps it would be best to send someone to aid in finding a cure. Someone with enough knowledge to be beneficial. In the end, Nareli was chosen. This is her first time ever leaving the island, and she has never had any contact with the outside world. She only hopes that she will be successful in finding a cure… _________________ Zeria Iiyasei "Never more to be held by the waves against me. Never more to be cast aside. This day is mine" |

| Name: Garuf Graygold Gender: Male Race: Arctic Dwarf Occupation: Adventurer (has no real job, but he is a master survivalist, and knows landscape like the back of his hand. It's almost impossible for him to get lost.) Appearance: Garuf is a middle aged dwarf, but like most arctic dwarves, has reached a silvery white hair extremely early. About 5'4", he's rather tall for a dwarf. But, still shorter than most people. Also like most dwarves, he is very burly. He wears thick brown leather pants, and a light gray shirt. Over this he wears a thich coat, made from the leather of some blue-skinned monster in the Arctic. The ends of these coats are laced with a thick white wool, as are his boots, which are black. He sports bushy eyebrows and a beard more bushy than long. Blue eyes. Wears a brown cloth-knit hat.
Personality: Garuf is as cold as the land he came from, although very compassionate. He has an immense wanderlust and will go wherever the legends tell him to. He knows how to mine, how to smith, how to fight, and how to drink. He's a very interesting fellow, who has many tales he loves to tell. Some true, some not. He's quick to anger. A stereotypical dwarf who loves to abuse his raspy deep voice.
Equipment: He has gained many things on his adventures. He carries a crystal sword that his brother made for him in the North, as well as an iron shield. He has a backpack full of maps, magic potions of all sorts, and an odd gem he only claims to be related to the frozen north...
Abilities: Garuf is a man who has tamed the land around him, and as such can use magic that can cause the landscape to aid him depending on the terrain. On top of this, he does have basic ice magic, which most citizens of the north end up learning.
History: A man with a long history, but not much to say. Garuf was a man who once led a peaceful life in the North. Had a family, even a wife, although no children. A smith, and a man with a short temper. One day while mining, a dragon that had been peaceful for so long had attacked the village, burning it to the ground. Possibly one of the first dragons affected by the recent 'Rage' phenominon, or perhaps just naturally insane. Coming back from the mine, Garuf and his allies stormed the dragon's lair, killing it in a bloody, angry vengeance. The journey took weeks.
Having lost all but his brother, and the deed done, they returned home. But, Garuf chose to leave the village. He felt he had lost everything of value, and would be better off searching for his purpose elseware. His brother leaving him a sword as thanks for being there, Garuf left, and has journeyed the world since. |

Name: Eia Gender: Male Race: Phoenix Occupation: Enforcer for the Flock of Eastwind Bluffs Appearance: Eia has two forms, his true phoenix form and his human form, as many such creatures have. As a phoenix he is much like a peacock in frame though about twice the size. Normally his plumage is unassuming, a rich mix of auburn and cream with bars of slate grayblue on his wings and tail. His primaries and the long, dramatic plumage of his tail are striped with cream and auburn, each stripe bordered by a thin line of slate. His body is mainly auburn, though his face and breast are speckled with cream. His beak and talons are the color of bone. However, in times of his emotion his plumage bursts into flame, the color varying depending on emotion. In his human form, Eia is a lean, tall man standing at a solid six foot. His shoulders are broad, but he looks a bit too stretched out. His skin is a dusky cream color, his palms and the soles of his feet shaded to slate. His hair falls in loose curls around his shoulders, a few feathers dispersed through. Again his coloring changes with his emotion, giving him the appearence of a flaming aura and hair. His eyes however are always the same- bright blue flecked with gold. Normal clothing would never survive his frequent shapeshifting so his clothing is actually made from his own essence and reflects the color of his plumage. Personality: Phoenixes are creatures of passion and Eia is just such. When he loves it is without limit, his loyalty is unbreakable, and his hatred bordering on irrational. His has a fierce love of life, a fearless daring that leads him to take massive risks that others might fear- never dying has that effect on one. Though many mistake this recklessness as a sign of youth, such confidence for Eia came with age. He has lived through over half a hundred burning days, and with only a single burning day every hundred years... time has given him some amount of wisdom. Proud and aggressive, Eia believes strongly in a few things. He is wary and mistrustful of those he does not know, but at the same time curious to reach out, to meet others and to learn of their customs and thoughts. He is innately social, enjoying the closeness of people he trusts, or even joining in a crowd of strangers to encourage a rowdy session of song. Music is a hobby for him, and a great joy. He has an undeniable, sometimes violent temper that is only partially under control. Equipment:Singer- A bow made of golden wood, Singer is a singularly exceptional piece of work. Four smooth cabachons are set into the grip, peeking out between the fawn colored leather wrapping, and each holds the energy of an element. Amber for Fire(flaming), Emerald for Earth(acid), Gold veined quartz for Air(electric), and Blue Opal for Water(cold). These are activated at will when the bow is in use. Quiver- His quiver is of heavy ivory colored leather, and holds many more arrows than it seems it should. Every arrow is fletched with his own feathers, as it is superstition that they will follow the will of the archer more closely. Rage- This falchion is a vicious two handed blade of a queer ivory material. Only the most astute- and those of it's kind- would recognize it as a blade fashioned from a dragon's bones. Bastiel's Scale- The scale of a blue dragon on a thin gold chain hangs around Eia's neck, visible in both his forms. Though it's magical properties are long since faded, it is a potent reminder to him of his quest. Roughly etched into the underside of the scale is a phoenix glyph of warding. It is not meant to protect Eia, but rather to protect the spirit of Bastiel whom the scale once belonged to, wherever he may have gone. Abilities: Shapeshift- At will Eia can switch between human and phoenix form in a rush of flame. This same ability allows him to manifest wings in his human form. Skilled Archer and Fighter: Eia has been training and protecting his flock for centuries, and has become adept with his main weapons, the sword and bow. He has never been a heavy hand at magic, except the small fire magic innate to him. Born of Fire- Being a being of flame, Eia has a resistance to heat and fire, and as some small elemental magics. These are mostly practical, like starting fires and radiating heat from his body. Burning Day and 'burnings'- Once a century Eia has a burning day that cleanses his mind and soul. he loses some memories of his past but retains the most important, whatever has shaped his life most in th epast century. He is currently 20 years away from his next Burning Day. When he is badly injured, he has a burning, which is when his body is consumed in dark flame and aids him in healing. He is vulnerable during a burning, but it will come on instinctively when badly injured. He cannot come out of a burning prematurely, but must let it run it's course. A burning also aids in the healing of emotional and psychological trauma. History: Eia has lived for a very long time. He remembers the first Rage, remembers how his flock fled to Eastwind Bluffs when they nests were destroyed. They lost a great deal of their friends and family in that event, and phoenixes are slow to breed. But they made peace in their new home after the Rage passed, and even came into a sort of alliance with a few dragons who lived close. Eia handfasted a phoenix from another flock and brought her back to his roost. Over the two centuries they were together, they had but two chicks, both daughters. The light of his life, Eia took the care of his family and his flock seriously. He was also good friends with one of the dragon who was their ally, a blue who was wise and clever, and had a sense of humor that mirrored Eia's own. It was he who gifted Eia with Singer, on one of his last burning day. It is from his bones that Rage is crafted. It was all too recent that the madness visited itself upon the flock for a second time. And this time, the three dragons that they had formed alliances with set upon them at once. Though they had a modicum of protection from the Red, Bastiel and the copper dragon tore through their peaceful home. In the end, Eia and only two others survived, also enforcers. They had managed through much sacrifice to slay the dragons that destroyed their homes, though now their home was naught, for there was no longer anyone to defend. As they mourned their dead, the loss of the beloved and the dear, the young and the wise, the news reached them on a whisper of wind that there was a cure being sought for the Rage. A group was being gathered, part in happenstance and part by the hand of fate. And so they set off, scattering in different directions, to find this group. Eia seeks to aid to prevent this kind of massacre from happening again, and to know if a cure cannot be found. For it it cannot, he will instead seek a way to destroy them all. |

| Eia = NEEDS REVISION
I have some issues with this character. For one, if he is a phoenix, then he is an Extraplanar Outsider. Not being native to this realm, he will experience some alienation from those that are native.
Two, his sword will not go over well in this group. Being made of dragon bone, it is not likely to be accepted well by two dragons and a half-dragon. Being born of fire, he is also unfortunately very susceptible to the consequences of angering a white dragon, and this party has one. I'm not saying they will try to kill him immediately, but he is very likely to have a cold reception and possibly have to put up with being left to fend for himself.
Third, that scale around his neck will have a similar effect, especially with Carnifex, who traveled with a dragon very similar in coloration. The fact that it comes from a dead dragon whose soul is long departed could cause some issues with the two full-bloods, as dragons are proud and prone to seeing things how they want to.
In the end, I need you to change his point of origin, and think about what you are willing to deal with. |

| I rather thought that's what you'd say XD I know full well that this will cause some significant conflict in the group but that was sort of the point, but I'm willing to change a few things if you'd rather it not be so bad- the sword at least, though the scale will probablly stay.
I wrote Eia on the hope that it wasn't quite so hard core DnD like, but I can go ahead and change his origin if you'd like. I should have the revisions done by tomorrow, don't really have the time to do them now. Though I don't see why there couldn't be a colony or two of phoenixes who've chosen to make their homes on this plane rahter than their own. |

| This is a story based on Forgotten Realms, which was born of DnD, my friend. The sword can stay, but it will definitely cause issues, and in a party where the only other non-dragon is also not trusted, that makes things interesting. Pretty much, I just want you to change where he came from, since phoenixes that shift are celestial beings from the Plane of Fire or one of the Courts, and the phoenixes of this world, though intelligent and magical, are still only beasts. |
